  1. Hypotension
  2. Jugular venous distension
  3. Muffled heart sounds – only found in a minority of patients

Cause


Cause – associated with acute cardiac tamponade-  medical emergency


Pathophysiology


Pathophysiology – excessive fluid accumulates in the pericardial sac around the heart and impairs its ability to pump blood.


Pathognomonic


Pathognomonic for – acute cardiac tamponade with presence of the Beck’s triad.
