Pain due to intermittent claudication of the cauda equina is most commonly caused by
Lumbar spondylosis
Rarely, by a spinal tumor.
John Cunningham virus
- Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy.
- Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy
- Demyelinating disease caused by reactivation of the JC virus,
- Usually seen in immunodeficient patients.
JC virus, or John Cunningham virus, is a common virus.
More than half of all adults have been exposed to it.
It doesn’t cause problems for most people, but it can be dangerous if you have a weak immune system.
Types of Migraine –
• Common migraine -episodic headache without aura
• Classic migraine – episodic headache with aura, most commonly visual
• Basilar migraine – episodic headache with brainstem signs including vertigo and ataxia
• Complicated migraine – aura lasts for hours or days beyond the duration of the headache
• Hemiplegic migraine – hemiplegia onset before the headache; this variant often is familial.
• Migraine equivalent- episodic neurological symptoms without headache
What is the most common cause of Mononeuropathy multiplex?
Diabetes
What is the most common form of mononeuropathy?
carpal tunnel syndrome
What is the most common nerve involved in mononeuropathy?
Median Nerve
Radial nerve palsy is most commonly due to
Pressure palsy in alcoholic intoxication
Most common root involved in Plexopathy
Brachial plexus – C5 and C6
Brachial plexitis is somewhat more common than lumbosacral plexitis
Which level of spinal cord is most commonly involved in hypoperfusion of the artery of Adamkiewicz ?
Invasive vascular and thoraco-abdominal surgical procedures may be complicated by impaired blood flow to the spinal cord,
Cause – hypoperfusion of the artery of Adamkiewicz
Common – near the T6 level.
What is the most common inherited disorder of the spinal cord resulting in hypotonia in infancy?
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)
What is the most common gene abnormality in Nemaline Myopathy?
Skeletal muscle alpha actin (ACTA1),
Syringomyelia most commonly associated with –
Chiari malformation
Most common cause of intramedullary cord dysfunction is –
Extrinsic spinal cord compression
What is the most common entrapment neuropathy?
Carpal tunnel syndrome,
