In short
- Blood borne metastasis is the commonest mode of spread. The organs involved are liver, lungs, kidneys, brain, bones.
- Sarcoma in fibroid has got a better prognosis.
- Single-agent doxorubicin is standard first-line chemotherapy for uterine leiomyosarcoma (ULMS).
- A diagnosis of smooth muscle tumor of uncertain malignant potential (STUMP) is made when morphologically there are equivocal changes. ER and PR may help differentiate between ULMS and STUMP and leiomyoma.
