Flame cells are atypical plasma cells with irregular cytoplasmic projections that stain bright purple-red with Wright-Giemsa stain.
IgA myeloma
They are usually associated with IgA myeloma

- Non-IgA myelomas
- MGUS
- Reactive plasmacytosis
