Why individuals with Congenital heart disease associated due to Down Syndrome are more prone for pulmonary hypertension?

Genetic contributions to ALL of the following EXCEPT

[A] Abnormal lung development
[B] Endothelial dysfunction
[C] Higher risk of Atherosclerosis
[D] Proinflammatory genes



  • The rate of congenital heart disease in newborns with Down syndrome is around 40%.
  • 80% have an atrial septal defect or ventricular septal defect
  • ASD is commonest finding.
  • People with Down syndrome have a lower risk of Atherosclerosis
