Morphological hallmark of ccRCC is robust lipid and glycogen accumulation in the cytoplasm of tumor cells, giving rise to the name “clear cell”.


What is the triad of renal cell carcinoma? – flank pain, hematuria, and flank mass is uncommon and presents in only 10% of cases.


Most common site of origin of Clear cell RCC – originates from the proximal convoluted tubules epithelium (renal cortex) presents a predominantly expansile growth pattern.


Clear cell – 75% [Most common Type ] – Site of Origin – Proximal nepron, tubular epithelium


Papillary – 10% – Distal nephron, tubular epithelium


Chromophobe – 5% – Distal nephron, intercalated cells of the distal tubules
