‘Jock itch’ is caused by
[A] Erythrasma
[B] Pityriasis versicolor
[C] Lichen planus

T. Cruris – Dhobi itch or jock itch Tinea cruris-
known as jock itch
infection involving the genital, pubic, perineal, and perianal skin
caused by pathogenic fungi known as dermatophytes.
Most frequent cause of tinea cruris [Dhobi itch or jock itch]
[A] Trichophyton mentagrophytes
[B] Trichophyton verrucosum
[C] Trichophyton rubrum
[D] Epidermophyton floccosum
[C] Trichophyton rubrum
Most common etiologic agents for tinea cruris include – Trichophyton rubrum and Epidermophyton floccosum;
Less commonly Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Trichophyton verrucosum are involved.
For microscopic and culture study of a person wth Tinea cruris sample should be obtained from

[B] Leading edge of lesion
[C] Skin Biopsy
[D] Excisional biopsy

In most cases, tinea cruris can be diagnosed clinically
Sample should be obtained from the leading edge of the lesion to ensure an adequate collection of infected scales
Potassium hydroxide (KOH) mounts are generally procured with a scalpel scraping technique; however, new studies have indicated that utilizing a cellophane adhesive tape method may simplify the collection process, facilitate transportation, provide a higher quality sample, and improve slide preservation time
